Progress Report
18 05 2008Another weekend for me down at the house, and 2nd week of Di on site. Its been really hard on her as she is up early and working on the site everyday. For a break between her contracts its certainly not a holiday and I feel for her, as for me going back to actual work seems like a break!
Progress has been steady, but probably not as visible now as all the detailing needs to be done and thats just slow work. Big items on the move thou are:
Round window now has glass in it and is no longer a board, looks fantastic
The side door has been replaced by a new shiney Tostem slide door and looks brillant (and is in the right colour)
The bathroom is getting its tiles laid and is really coming along
The yard has been reformed so all the dirt is in the right places and is starting to look fairly good now
Taping off for painting has been done, so Di can paint at her leisue during the week.
Bathroom light arrived from the US (more below)
We also had to camp out in the house this weekend as the other house was booked. It worked alright, but with only a cold water tap it really was camping inside. We got by thou!
The bathroom light arrived via the shipping company from the US. We searched all the places in Japan for the vanity light and they were all crap and over expensive (like $500) worth of plastic crap (and I won't mention the brand).
After some thought we started to search the internet and looked at the US since the voltage is the same and I have an arrangement for shipping from there. Many of the sites just had well I guess it works for American housing lights, all very homey, but none contemporary, or at least the contemporary modern we wanted. Then I found Arcadian Lighting and they have such a great range of products and lighting which is easy to search and well categoriesed.
We also found a great light that we thought would work. Today it was unpacked assembled and put up for demo over the soon to be vanity. We had no idea when it was ordered that the white glass squares we actually 20cm by 20 cm which is exactly the same size as the wall tiles! (or rather the new wall tiles), it going to look fantastic.
